For more than 75 years Faith Lutheran Church has worshiped and served in the heart of the Umpqua. We welcome all into the grace and love of Jesus.

Our History
The original Lutheran church in the Roseburg area was Eden Lutheran Church, established in 1909 west of town in Elgarose. In 1947, the Augustana Lutheran Church developed a new mission church in town. Rev. Willis Erickson was sent to serve the new mission and the first service was held on October 3, 1948 with 70 people present in the basement of the Armory building. Faith Lutheran was officially organized on March 6, 1949 with 59 charter members. They purchased property and began construction on Malheur Ave in 1950. In 1951, they moved into the basement and in 1952, the new sanctuary was completed and dedicated. In 1957 the Eden Church at Elgarose was dissolved and the membership transferred to Faith. Over time, the congregation outgrew the Malheur building and the current property on Kenwood St. in West Roseburg was purchased. Plans for a new church were developed and begun in 1972. In 1973, they dedicated the fellowship hall and classrooms and moved into the current location. The sanctuary was finally completed and dedicated 7 years later in 1980. Faith celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2024.

We are moved by God’s grace to welcome all who have ever felt marginalized, no matter your gender identity, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, marital status, or faith background. We welcome you as we worship, learn, and share Christ’s love together.

Our congregation is a worshiping, learning, witnessing, and serving community of people among whom the Word of God is proclaimed, and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are celebrated and whose members provide support to enable the fulfillment of its ministry.
